MP Lefter Gështenja has commented on the establishment of the Special Anticorruption Commission.
Geshtenja emphasized that it was the decision of the parliamentary group not to participate in the vote because it is a one-sided commission from the majority.
Present on the show "Express", the democratic deputy said that they did not boycott the establishment of the commission, but simply abstained.
"There was no boycott, but there was a decision of the parliamentary group to abstain from this commission. It was a resolution initiated only by the majority, which in the beginning was not going to be voted on by the opposition because it was made by the SP, and then they told us, let's vote together" , said Gështenja.
Geshtenja stated that if the invitation for cooperation was serious then there should be a common consensus.
"Regardless of the personal decisions I may have as a deputy, I respect the decisions of the group. As we abstained on the resolution, we had the same position on this committee. We must support the institutions and not establish parallel or accountable institutions", said the democratic deputy.
In this context, the opposition deputy stated that the establishment of this commission is a disgrace to citizens and internationals in the whole situation they are in today.
"To believe that the prime minister, who has raised a system of corruption and crime on a pedestal and put you in the most important institutions, has any concern for reform. I do not believe that DP and the opposition can be used as an instrument to fight SPAK by Edi Rama. This is a propaganda commission. It's not a boycott, we participated in the justice reform ," Gështenja said.
