These elements emerging from the wiretaps may well influence the atmosphere that serves to keep someone in prison longer, but they do not have the weight of serious facts as they were served on March 11, 12, 13. If in what was served as a bomb file there is nothing more than that...
The publication of Erion Veliaj's wiretapped conversations from the cell where he has been held for more than a month has left a bitter taste in relation to the expectation that was propagated that they would be found there.
Of course, in his conversations with his family, mainly his brother and wife, the public learns a few things. We once again confirm the control that the incumbent mayor with the most pharaonic budget in the country has over the agenda of a number of major media outlets. We are convinced of the connection between the attacks that were made on judges and prosecutors and their ordering from the dark dungeons of Durrës. We also see, especially in the attacks on Justice Minister Ulsi Manja, that Veliaj is beginning to suspect that the blow has come from behind his back, that is, from his party.
Enough of that, for any media outlet that would have them in their hands, they would constitute golden material. Not only do they satisfy the public's instincts of suffering to the fullest, but they also confirm or teach us more about what we knew about the still-incumbent mayor of Tirana. Seen from this perspective, they should be published to the end.
But, on the other hand, it seems that their publication initially in CNA, and then in media critical of Veliaj, does not support the propagandistic notes that accompanied their existence in the days before the process where the revocation of the arrest measure would be discussed in the Court of Appeal. In those days, almost all portals and TVs supplied by journalists, SPAK's transition belts, spoke of new facts that justified keeping "Lali" in prison. Although nothing came out of these facts in the public, the idea was created that Veliaj had been badly arrested and that he would continue to rot in the cell. In fact, this fable was so exaggerated that the anomaly of the extension of a routine process for reviewing the arrest measure was served with the "bomb" of these new facts.
From what has been seen so far, it seems that there are none. Veliaj really insults his colleague Ulsi Manja "Katundar" and "Qelbësirë", he really determines the editorial line of some of the largest media, he really intends to use them to intimidate justice. But that's it. Even in two or three cases during the wiretaps it becomes clear that the interlocutors are aware that they were being wiretapped. They express this to each other. So as such they did not intend to aggravate their position...
Can a conversation where a woman is advised about the position her mother should take in SPAK be considered a new aggravating fact? Can the intimidation of justice, the ordering of an article or the incitement of a protest by the bar association be considered as such? Can lobbying with friendly MPs to soften the statements of the KLP in defense of prosecutors be considered as such? Is an attempt not to change the prison an aggravating circumstance?
These elements emerging from the wiretaps may also influence the atmosphere that serves to keep someone in prison longer, but they do not have the weight of serious facts as they were served on March 11, 12, 13. If there is nothing more than that in what was served as a bombshell dossier, this shows that SPAK has also managed to set up a machine for influencing and manipulating opinion as powerful as the one Veliaj has. After all, he managed to create the impression before the appeal process that he had secured new evidence and facts to keep the incumbent mayor in prison.
This conclusion emerges at least from those wiretaps that have been made public so far. They were worth publishing to see the portrait of a prisoner who is realizing who has stabbed him in the back. And for this he feels disappointed and a victim of a conspiracy. But, on the other hand, readers who believe in SPAK and who remembered that with the latest wiretaps he had managed to crucify Veliaj may also feel the same way. / Lapsi
