Lawyer Genc Gjokutaj has spoken about his relationship with Ilir Meta, explaining the reasons that led him to leave the former president's defense.

He emphasized that the departure was not related to any personal conflict, but to his professional workload and the need for Meta to have full legal protection.

He explains that the departure was necessary due to his other professional commitments:

" Meta needed a full-time lawyer. That's why I left. I have remained friends with Mr. Meta, his children and his ex-wife, but I would be sorry to formally stay by his side while he really needed help ," he said in an interview on Roland Qafoku's "Dekalog" show on DritareTV.

Gjokutaj also emphasizes that the relationship between them has always been one of respect and friendship:

" I was not only a lawyer, but also a colleague and a friend. The job was to make the right choices to help ," he said.
