Analyst Ergys Mërtiri stated that the video scandal of former mayor Safet Gjici may have been made due to blackmail by criminal groups.
The witness ruled out the possibility that the woman in the video was motivated by politics to film the mayor. He emphasized that in Albanian politics, you don't fight in such ways because you get into blood if you destroy a person's political career and family.
" As far as we know in the political environment, the parties do not have that kind of war and those kinds of techniques. If it had been made by politics, the video would have been made before the elections. All the more that we have the precedent of Shukriu, that after the scandal came out, the SP won more deeply than what Shukriu had won. This does not produce a political effect. I believe that there are interest, business or mafia groups here, since no one dares to destroy a person's political and family life, in such a Serbian way, after getting into blood. I don't see it as a political issue, but as a business and organized crime issue ," said Mërtiri.
