From diplomatic signals to the exit scenario, why the big move can't be more cosmetic...
Since last month, news has been circulating in Tirana's diplomatic corridors about major movements in the power structure around January 25.
Movements that, from the beginning, were perceived as unusual developments and not as a routine cabinet reshuffle.
This noise, which also circulated in political circles, was misused by the opposition, as always, by spreading rumors that Edi Rama would be overthrown before the New Year, and that he would not even eat the 'turkey'.
A naive narrative, which in diplomatic circles was seen as a typical smokescreen maneuver, instigated by Edi Rama himself to disrupt the plan of the "big bomb".
As usual, this nonsense, without an idea and without a plan, gave Edi Rama time to think of a move after the impasse that the internationals put him in, through SPAK, especially with the investigations against AKSHI.
As it is learned, Rama has attempted to negotiate with the Americans using the known channels, namely his mentor and advisor Tony Blair. The latter has informed him that it is too late for this, as he should have followed his advice in time.
What was Tony Blair's advice?
When US Secretary of State Antony Blinken urged Edi Rama to prepare for his departure in 2024, the Albanian prime minister sought the advice of his important friend.
Blair, according to sources, told him that he should present a detailed plan for a smooth departure, with two versions: either not running in the 2025 elections for a fourth term, or splitting the mandate in half, governing only the first two years and clearly defining the name of the successor and the steps for the transition.
At the Tirana summit, a few days before the May 11 elections, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz remembered body language when he gave Edi Rama the four-finger sign.
This signal had nothing to do with any numerical surprise, as Merz knew very well how many terms the Albanian prime minister had. The “surprise” was in fact a clear diplomatic message: a political anomaly that needed to be resolved.
Edi Rama's stubbornness to reflect on these signals took things to the extreme and today we are precisely in the "stick" phase, after the majority leader misused the "carrot".
Political logic shows that we are at such an advanced stage that no make-up operation can solve the situation. On the contrary, any cosmetic maneuver can accelerate Edi Rama's final phase.
The smokescreen maneuver, camouflaged with Lea Ypi's promotional tour, does not seem to have had the expected effect, despite efforts to pump it up and advertise it to the maximum.
The diplomatic signals, according to sources, have been clear: a strong move on the situation and a behavior like that of a European politician, not like that of an oriental autocrat, are expected.
What are the likely forms of the "January 25th Movement"?
According to sources, two scenarios are being considered: either immediate departure and the preparation of a socialist caretaker cabinet with a unifying figure, or the official announcement of the final departure.
In recent days, there has also been talk of meetings between Edi Rama and Pandeli Majko, for whom the idea is circulating that he may have been asked to make a strong return to the Socialist Party, even in the familiar role of caretaker prime minister./ Pamphlet

Babaxhani e kontrollon lojën dhe nuk ka zgjedhur ende pasuesin. Meroja,Blendi, ose Bathoni do ta kishin lajmëruar këtë, por akoma nuk e kanë bërë. Fatkeqësisht, Shqipëria ka një opozitë të asfiksuar që merr frymë e flet si ti levërdisë Babaxhanit nga Vuçidoli. E ardhmja e afërt nuk ofron shpresë, veç ish-komunistë ngado të kthesh aytë.
