Rama between two positions: visit to Israel and participation in the summit against Trump and Netanyahu
The Spain summit, which was also attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama, has brought reactions in the international media.
The American media outlet "Jewish Insider" focused on Jewish issues has described the "Global Progressive Summit" as an anti-Israel activity.
In its reporting, the newspaper describes the meeting as a broad gathering of progressive voices from more than 40 countries, who are known for their anti-Trump and anti-Israel stances.
The event was also attended by the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama. His participation comes just a few weeks after he paid an official visit to Israel, where he was received with honors and met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. But it seems that Rama is going where the wind blows.
According to Jewish Insider, the summit, supported by Alex Soros, aims to promote progressive alternatives globally, and was attended by figures known for their criticism of Israel, including politicians and former international officials.

A wide range of Israel critics, from U.S. Senator Chris Murphy to Israeli lawmaker Ahmed Tibi, gathered in Barcelona, Spain, over the weekend for the first Global Progressive Summit, supported by left-wing philanthropist Alex Soros.
The conference brought together representatives from more than 40 countries and, according to its website, aims to provide “a necessary alternative to conservative and far-right forces.” It also aims to “make progressive solutions visible and credible, proving that they are the key to the prosperity of humanity.”
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, a known critic of Israel, attended the two-day conference. Participants from the United States also included various political figures, while Senator Bernie Sanders, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sent video messages.
Among those present was a veteran adviser to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. Other notable participants included former Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh, Center for American Progress director Neera Tanden, and analyst Owen Jones, a former adviser to UK Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn.
The list of participants also included figures of diverse political leanings, such as Hillary Clinton, who in recent years has widely supported Israel; Neera Tanden, a close Clinton aide; and Albania’s Prime Minister, Edi Rama, a well-known supporter of Israel and leader of the Socialist Party of Albania. In his speech, Senator Chris Murphy declared that Donald Trump "intends to end our democracy" and added that "we are not on the verge of a totalitarian takeover, but we are in the middle of it."
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva called on members of the UN Security Council to "fulfill their obligation and guarantee peace" and to "stop this madness of war, because the world cannot afford any more wars."
For his part, Pedro Sánchez spoke of "attacks on the multilateral system, repeated attempts to undermine international law and the dangerous normalization of the use of force," apparently referring to the recent war in Iran.
"They know that their vision of world order is falling apart because of tariffs and wars," he added.
Alex Soros, one of the most influential donors to the progressive movement and the son of billionaire philanthropist George Soros, has also spoken out against the war in Iran. He has praised Spain for refusing to allow the United States to use its bases and criticized other European countries that have not followed the same approach.
Donald Trump has criticized Spain's stance on this issue, stating that the country's economic situation is weak and questioning its contribution to NATO.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar responded to Sánchez's calls to downgrade relations between the European Union and Israel. He declared that Israel "will not accept hypocritical lectures" from a country that, according to him, maintains relations with regimes that violate human rights, such as Turkey and Venezuela, and which, according to him, contributes to the spread of anti-Semitism. / Pamphlet
