The Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party has asked the Constitutional Court to examine the hearing on the immigrant agreement with Italy in a hearing open to the public.
In the letter addressed to this institution and bearing the signature of the chairman of the Group, Gazment Bardhi, it is argued that the session should be open to the media and the public, as it carries a special importance.
"Given the special public interest that the review of the protocol's constitutionality bears, the applicant's claims regarding the lack of transparency and consultation in the negotiation and signing stages, the consolidated practice of the Constitutional Court as well as the principle of transparency on which it operates the court, in support of Article 21, point 1, of Law no. 8577/2000, Article 5, points 1, 2 and 4, Article 26, point 2, Article 33, point 3, Article 37, point 1 of the final Regulation we demand consideration of the case in a public plenary session", writes Bardhi.
We remind you that the Constitutional Court suspended the ratification in the Assembly of the Albania-Italy agreement on immigrants while considering the case. The session for the review of the documents was decided to be held on January 18.
We recall that the agreement signed between the two governments was opposed by the opposition MPs.
On December 6, 30 deputies submitted to the Constitutional Court an official request for the control of the constitutionality of the protocol signed between the Council of Ministers of the country and the Italian government.
This request was presented before the ratification of the agreement in the Assembly, since according to the opposition side, the negotiation and signing procedure was not respected, since the protocol is part of those categories of agreements that require the authorization of the President.
