The Deputy Chairman of the Tirana Municipal Council, Dorian Teliti, has granted the Mayor, Erion Veliaj, the right to be present at Tuesday's session, where his dismissal will be discussed.
In a Facebook post, Teliti writes that Veliaj should be in the courtroom, as he believes he deserves to be heard before being dismissed. Teliti further raises the question of whether Veliaj will be allowed to leave detention and speak at the Municipal Council.
" Tuesday is the day when Veliaj is expected to be dismissed from office by the Municipal Council. But before the dismissal, he has the right to be heard there in the hall in front of the local elected officials of the Capital."
The opposition is not only not afraid of that word, but demands/insists that Veliaj be there, face to face, to tell him and show the citizens some truths about the corruption and damage he has caused to Tirana in the last 10 years. The question that Tirana – and all of Albania – is asking today is simple: Will the government allow Veliaj to come out of prison to speak, or will they keep him locked up for fear that they will get their ink spilled along with him?
Because when you have built a regime on propaganda and theater, a single word outside the script ruins the whole show. For the dismissal of Veliaj, the government's permission was needed... but for Veliaj's speech, will any permission be given? Tuesday is coming... ", writes Teliti.
We recall that yesterday Veliaj addressed a request to the members of the Tirana Municipal Council to be present at the council meeting.
