The Socialist Party appears to be set to reject SPAK's request to lift the immunity of MP Belinda Balluku.
After nearly 5 hours of discussions and debates in the Mandates Council, the Socialist Party has signaled that it may make a decision against the Special Prosecution Office.
After the meeting, the head of the SP group, Taulant Balla, spoke to the media, saying that they will come up with a different report than the DP's, which will request the lifting of immunity and will be sent to the plenary session. But according to him, there will be a discussion in the group about the final decision, as he said that the current measures in force for Blluk are more than sufficient to continue the investigations.
" With full reasons, the Assembly has taken the necessary time for this process after the involvement of the Constitutional Court. Today's discussion and the questions of the council members have shed light on the essential element, the presumption of innocence. No one is guilty as long as there is no final court decision. The other party did not need to be examined because they had made their decision on the position. In our case, on behalf of the 5 SP deputies, I informed the mandate council that regarding the proposal of the DP group for granting the authorization, we did not agree with the way it was proposed and we will have a discussion and an information from my side at the first meeting of the SP parliamentary group. The council does not grant the authorization, but the plenary session does. After that communication, which the SP group, at the end of this process, as soon as my colleague Ulsi Manja has fully drafted the report on behalf of our 5 deputies, we will have two rapporteurs, Mr. Manja will draft our report "while the DP will bring its report ," said Balla.
