The head of the DP, Lulzim Basha, reacted after accepting the accusations from Charles McGonigal, the former head of counterintelligence at the FBI regarding Albania.

Among them, McGonigal answered "Yes" when asked if he had investigated a lobbyist from a party opposing Rama, though without naming names.

Basha writes that no one can stop the truth and calls it payback for the democrats who were attacked by Edi Rama and Sali Berisha.

"No one can stop the truth, no matter how much they delay, no matter how much money is invested against it, no matter how much mud is thrown to cover it.

Above all, this truth is payback for the democrats who came under attack to get dirty and to be damaged not only by Edi Rama, but also by Sali Berisha", declares Basha.

The former agent admitted that he had received $225,000 from the Albanian-American, Agron Nezaj, who became an informant for the FBI's investigation regarding his contacts and meetings in Albania.

The plea came at a hearing in a federal court in Washington, based on an agreement between the prosecution and Mr. McGonigal's lawyers, through which he pleaded guilty to the first charge of concealing material evidence and prosecutors dropped the other eight charges in act-suit.

McGonigal admitted to all charges related to Albania, including contacts with Prime Minister Edi Rama and his unofficial adviser to the Prime Minister of Albania, Dorian Ducka.

Asked by the judge in the case, Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, if on Nov. 25, he had "notified the Justice Department Attorney ... of a possible criminal investigation into a US citizen who had registered to lobby 'for a party that was not of Prime Minister Rama', Mr. McGonigal answered "Yes".

During the hearing, Mr. McGonigal admitted that he had developed connections and contacts in Albania through a friend of his, referring to Neza, with the intention of preparing the ground for him to pursue business opportunities and benefits in Albania after leaving the FBI.

The charge against McGonigal carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. The maximum statutory penalty for federal offenses has been prescribed by Congress and is provided here for informational purposes. The court will determine the actual sentence based on the advisory Sentencing Guidelines and other legal factors.

This case is being investigated by the FBI offices in Los Angeles and Washington.
