The member of the Municipal Council as a representative of the DP, Ilir Alimehmeti, in the opposition protest in front of the Municipality, tried to talk to the director of the Tirana Police, Tonin Vocaj.
Alimehmeti has asked Vocaj to come inside and that he will send an official request for an extraordinary meeting.
"Who is the commander here? I want to talk to him. Mr. Director, may members of the Council enter? We want to do our duty! A task that the people have entrusted to us. We bring an official request for an urgent meeting! It was signed by dozens of members of the Council", Alimehmeti said.
Alimehmeti said that they demand an urgent meeting of the Municipal Council.
"The request is to hold an urgent meeting on the issues in question, where we have arrested senior leaders of the municipality of Tirana, we have high-level leaders, we need transparency for the Municipal Council and this then becomes transparent for the people, that this it's our duty and we are being prevented from doing our duty as a full citizen, by other people who are under duty taking wrong orders.
A very simple one-line request: We request an urgent meeting. They can set the date when they want, but it is a legal obligation to receive the request and allow entry into the municipality.
The municipality is theoretically open to all citizens. The municipality is not even open to municipal councilors - imagine for the citizens!!!", Alimehmeti said.
