A tense night has been marked in front of the Prime Minister's Office, where police forces have intervened with dozens of officers to forcibly remove the tents set up by protesters of the "Albania Becomes" initiative, led by Adriatik Lapaj.
Lapaj, who the day before had started an individual protest by sitting on a chair, was today confronted by the intervention of blue uniforms after attempting to set up a camping tent. According to him, the symbolic act of a peaceful protest was met with a disproportionate reaction from the police, who forcibly stopped the tent from being set up and confiscated the materials.
After the intervention, Lapaj reacted harshly and called on his followers to join the protest en masse and send aid to spend the night in difficult conditions.
" We hope that citizens will unite en masse. Those who follow me know that every time I have joined a protest, it has lasted. There is no turning back, we will stay here. This damages Rama's autocracy, which has become greedy. Today we are few, but if we become 10 thousand, will they come to take our umbrellas again... ", he declared.
Lapaj requested concrete help from citizens, making a public appeal for blankets and other means to help people stay in the square.
" Dear followers, send us blankets, we need them. Whatever you have, send them to us to spend the night. It's cold, but there's no turning back. Their boss Rama lost his patience with the judges, the police officers lost their patience with us ," he added.
