In a time of economic crisis, when oil and basic food prices are rising, the mayor of Durrës, Emiriana Sako, is demanding a salary increase for staff.

This issue was accompanied by strong debates at the Municipal Council meeting, where the opposition opposed the step, calling it unjustified and criticizing the increase in the salary of the mayor and her staff. According to it, the increase should apply to teachers, kindergarten staff, municipal police and low-level administration, but not to managers, emphasizing the lack of improvement in performance.

In parallel, outside the building, a protest by residents affected by the TID project continued, also supported by residents of Baks-Rrjoll.

During the meeting, Democratic Councilor Ardian Muka requested that residents' representatives participate in the discussions, but the request was not granted. The Chairperson of the Municipal Council, Denisa Luarasi, stated that the responses will be published online.

The meeting was also attended by Dritan Burgija, who was expelled from the DP, and who later joined the protesters along with Ardian Muka.

Meanwhile, the reallocation of around 714 million lek in reconstruction funds for 2026 was approved, amid concerns about delays. Deputy Mayor Gentian Kallmi stated that the distribution of apartments continues and most families have received the keys to the hospital.
