Analyst Nikollë Lesi has spoken out against the DP's decision to run in the Tirana municipal elections with an independent candidate, as they describe Florian Binaj's candidacy.
He said he would have liked the DP to have run among the three candidates and he would have preferred Ilir Alimehmet.
According to him, the DP's decision shows that it is prepared to lose.
" It seems that so far the DP either believes it is losing or does not want to win Tirana. The way the DP works and finding a candidate who is an honorable actor, but I say that a candidate from the DP was needed. It was needed Ilir Alimehmeti, Jorida Tabaku, or Klevis Balliu. It was needed a political figure. The elections will be in mid-December, as Klosi and Krishtilindjet say, to find Tirana with a mayor."
It seems that the Constitutional Court's decision on October 31 will reject Veliaj's request and the president will call elections. One of these 3 figures would be the best candidate for the opposition.
