Prime Minister Edi Rama has publicly reacted to the protest announced for October 17 in Tirana, in support of the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army who are being held in The Hague.
Through a post on social media, Rama shared the organizers' call, expressing his personal commitment to this initiative and calling on all Albanians to join this rally.
" I am pleased and honored to obey the organizers to post this invitation-call. Freedom has a name. From Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania, the diaspora and every corner of Albanian lands — thousands of hearts will unite this Friday, October 17, at 5:00 PM, to unanimously demand justice for the liberators ," the Prime Minister wrote in his post.
The rally, which will be held in the capital, is expected to be one of the largest in support of the former KLA leaders being tried by the Hague Specialized Chambers. Through this protest, the organizers and their supporters demand that the trial against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi not be political and biased, but fair and honest.
