DP overturns Lezha, goes to 52 mandates at the national level...

The counting process at the national level has reached 3,538 ballot boxes counted out of 5,225, or about 67.7% of the total, and the distribution of mandates now provides a clear picture of the future parliamentary configuration.

The Socialist Party of Albania is on a safe path towards an absolute majority in the Assembly with 82 mandates and 483,503 votes collected.

On the other hand, the DP – Alliance for a Greater Albania (DP-ASHM) coalition received 314,508 votes, which translates into 52 mandates. A little earlier, the DP overturned Lezha by taking 4 mandates there and as a result, the SP dropped from 83 to 82, while the DP increased from 51 to 52.

Although the united opposition has attempted to regain ground, it appears to have failed to convince voters of a serious governing alternative, remaining in a second position without decisive influence in the political process.

The novelty of this legislature is the entry into the Assembly of several new political forces, which, although with few mandates, represent different electorates and are critical of the current system:

Social Democratic Party (PSD) – 33,593 votes – 3 mandates

Opportunity Party – 26,331 votes – 1 mandate

Coalition "Initiative Albania Becomes" – 32,526 votes – 1 mandate

Together Movement (Qori) – 12,256 votes – 1 mandate

These distributed mandates constitute a clear signal of the desire of a part of the electorate to break away from the classic two-party system and bring new, more critical and activist voices to the Assembly. But the system did not provide many mandates.

But since we have open and closed lists, it is still not known for sure how the Parliament will be configured. However, so far we have 93 names that are almost certain to be elected as MPs, coming from the closed lists.

Meanwhile, there is a strong battle on the open lists. Several names have appeared on the open list that have already secured a mandate, but since the counting continues, we are not including them. On the other hand, the DP, in Elbasan and Fier, has also lost candidates from the closed lists.
