50 percent of votes counted in Tirana, PS 'shields' 19th mandate, DP

In the country's largest and most crucial district, Tirana, 650 polling centers out of 1,282 in total have been counted, or about 50.7% of the total, while out of 42,384 envelopes of diaspora votes, only 2,946 have been counted - a symbolic percentage that still leaves much uncertainty.

According to data from the Central Election Commission, the Socialist Party is dominating the race in this district with 29,000 votes more than the opposition, securing 19 mandates and "armoring" Tirana in the face of a divided and strategically unclear opposition.

The Democratic Party and its allies have managed to secure 14 seats, with a total of 75,000 votes, but are in danger of losing one of them. According to the CEC, the Opportunity Party needs only 145 votes to take the 15th seat from the DP, which would be a political and symbolic blow to the opposition.

In this tense and fragmented race, the Lëvizja Bashkë, led by Arlind Qori, has secured entry into Parliament, a significant achievement for a movement that comes from civic activism and left-wing movements. Likewise, Tom Doshi’s Social Democratic Party (PSD) and Adriatik Lapaj’s “Albania Becomes” coalition have received mandates in this district, strengthening new voices in the upcoming legislature.
