Lefter Maliqi said that Albanians should know that the main problem in the country today is the "capture" of Parliament, which, according to him, began when the mandates were abandoned during Basha's time.
He emphasized that the Parliament elects the Prime Minister, the judiciary, and SPAK, but is held hostage by both the opposition and the majority.
Maliqi announced an action on the ground by the opposition after waiting for the final OSCE-ODIHR report on October 20 for the May 11 elections.
"Albanians should know that we are a parliamentary republic and everything stems from the Parliament. The Parliament elects the Prime Minister and the judiciary and SPAK. The Parliament has been captured since the moment the mandates were given during Basha's time. The Parliament is totally captured and is also held hostage by the majority. The purpose of this majority is to hold the opposition hostage. Citizens know that the country is depopulated, and other places are abandoned. Tirana is filled only with tourists. I am a man of the field and I communicate with the citizens. We are waiting for the final report of the May 11 elections which will come from the OSCE-ODIHR on October 20. All eyes are on the opposition. There will be an opposition action on the ground for the massacre of the May 11 elections.
"The united opposition is expecting the final OSCE report by October 20. After the report, I think there will be an opposition action and an analysis of the elections. Protests not for one hour or two hours but sustained protests, only in this way can we overthrow the majority," he said.
Maliqi also spoke about the early elections in Tirana, where he dismissed the lack of an opposition candidate, claiming that this is propaganda by the majority. He stated that the consultation process continues as a name fully accepted by the opposition is needed.
"Albanians should not buy into this Rilindja propaganda that the opposition has no candidates. We have candidates and the meetings are held to agree on names. The discussions are taking place because we are facing a narco-state and the DP also seeks the opinion of the rest of the opposition so that we can come up with a common name. I have said that the DP and the united opposition need a lot of parallel work at the grassroots level because the regime is in action. I am for new elections in Tirana because it has turned into a narco-state, the government has turned into a sultanate. Without grassroots organization there is no victory, the opposition must have the analysis," he declared.
Maliqi also said that he expects the mayor of Kuçova to be arrested or at least dismissed, adding that he would be willing to run for election.
"I too can expect the mayor of Kuçova to be arrested or dismissed at any moment. I will enter the race, but I think it will be more difficult than in 2027," Maliqi concluded.
