In July of last year, the SP proposed a change in the law on the Constitutional Court, where it is foreseen that the members of the Constitutional Court will receive up to 6.5 million ALL per month. This law requires 84 votes and failed to pass. Both Berisha's group and Basha's described it as a law made to capture members of the Constitution. The draft remained in the drawers of the Assembly, but Nikola has returned it.
In recent weeks, the Constitutional Court has given a series of decisions in favor of the government, and it seems that Rama has started again to reward the 9 members of this court. But the fact that the law is included in the agenda means that the support of the opposition has been secured.
But what exactly does the draft provide? The draft law drawn up by the Ministry of Justice, with the proposal of the Constitutional Court itself, provides that the salary of a constitutional judge will be around 644 thousand ALL, while that of the president of this court in the amount of around 773 thousand ALL.
According to the law, they will have a salary close to that of the President, while they will benefit from a salary increase of up to 58 percent.
" The monthly salary of the judge of the Constitutional Court is the same as the multiplication of the coefficient 0.96 with the salary of the President of the Republic. The monthly salary of the judge of the Constitutional Court is indexed by decision of the Council of Ministers no later than two years after the last indexation. The indexation level, in any case, does not exceed one percentage point above the inflation target level by the Bank of Albania ", the law states.
Also in Article 17, the point is added: " In addition to the monthly salary, the judge of the Constitutional Court benefits from an allowance due to the special nature of the work, in the amount of 58% percent of the salary ."
Meanwhile, the benefits will be greater for the president, who will benefit from a salary increase, a 58 percent salary increase and an additional 20 percent on top of that. / Pamphlet
