The flooding situation in the country remains problematic, while authorities have intensified measures to cope with the emergency.
It is learned that the Emergency Committee is expected to meet tomorrow at 8:30, and will be led by Prime Minister Edi Rama.
The meeting will analyze the current situation and what other state interventions should be undertaken. Compensation for those affected by this situation will also be discussed.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, has announced today an immediate evacuation for the residents of Novosela, due to the high risk of flooding. Evacuations have also been announced in several areas of the Durrës district.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the most problematic regions remain Shkodra, Lezha, Durrës, Fier, Berat and Gjirokastra. Unfortunately, the first victim from the floods has also been registered in Durrës.
In the city of Durrës, 250 people have been sheltered at the Armed Forces Rest House, while another 55 people have been accommodated at the Ministry of Interior's Co-op. This morning, the Erzen River overflowed its banks, causing flooding in several areas.
The situation remains critical in Vlora, where the level of the Vjosa River in the Novosela area has exceeded 9 meters. 13 families have been evacuated near the Mifoli Bridge and in Novosela. Around 150 Armed Forces personnel, over 20 heavy vehicles, 10 rescue boats and 15 suction pumps have been deployed on the ground.
