"They are holding us hostage with court decisions", Gjekmarkaj and

The Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Agron Gjekmarkaj and the head of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, were received today by the Chairman of the Committee for European Affairs in the Bundestag, Anton Hofreiter.

Through a post on the "Facebook" social network, Gjekamrkaj has revealed details of the meeting, where he states that Albania's integration into the EU was discussed, as well as the support that Germany has given Albania in these years.

He further added that the issue of the Seal and Logo of the Democratic Party is also affected, which according to them has remained hostage to court decisions that do not respect the will of the citizens.

" Today together with Mr. Gazment Bardhi, chairman of the DP parliamentary group and Vice-Chairman of this party, was received by the Chairman of the Committee for European Affairs in the Bundestag Mr. Anton Hofreiter, with whom we shared our views on the integration of Albania in the EU, as well as we thanked him for the unstinting support that Germany has given our country in this process and not only during the 34 years of pluralism.

We emphasized the importance of the Berlin process and the support that the Opposition has given to it since its inception. We expressed our concerns about the stagnation of the Electoral Reform, which must definitely reflect the recommendations of the OSCE - ODIRH for free and fair elections and equality of the participants in the elections.

Also, today we had the opportunity to have a broad conversation with the deputies of this committee who asked many questions about issues of integration, justice, the Open Balkans and the Berlin process, the unification of the opposition, the Rama-Meloni agreement, immigration and its causes, etc. I expressed to my German colleagues all the respect and thanks for the attention and time they gave us, explaining to you that the Albanian people, not only from the polls which show them as the most pro-European people, but from history which has put them several times at the forefront of efforts to fight for Europe and in its name, of a people who know what it means to lose as a reality and preserve it as an identity, to be punished by it and for it, for spiritual and cultural reasons as such, as European yesterday, today and tomorrow, we deserve to be in its political community. I was 16 years old when the European dream was offered to us now I am 50 years old and it is like a horizon line that recedes the closer we get. The peoples of the Western Balkans love Europe, sometimes their governments don't, because that's how they consolidate autocracy undisturbed!

Even in this meeting, I recounted the sad saga of the arrest of the Leader of the Opposition, Sali Berisha, without charge or investigation, turning him into a subject under the law, touching ad personam Article 73 of the Constitution for punishment. The opposition and the united DP are a reality but still hostage to court decisions that do not respect social sensibility, which expects a decision from them as soon as possible.

The "death" of the open Balkans is the only "wake" that has been welcomed by reducing indirect Russian influence through Serbia in the Balkans. We explained all the links, bottlenecks and delays of the Justice Reform. We also reiterated the need to return the fact-finding mission of the Bundestag during the election year in Albania ", writes Gjekmarkaj.
