Five subjects that, for the sake of truth, may not have many points in common in what they articulate, but what unites them is that all 5, despite the fact that two of them were DP deputies (Shehaj and Alibeaj ) have declared that they are against the old politics, meaning Berisha and Rama, or the parties they lead. And the other point that unites them is the trust they have in SPAK or in the new justice to fight corruption at a high level.
For years there has been talk about the possibility of creating a "third pole" in Albanian politics. An idea that began to circulate in 2000, as a union of small parties, against those who are considered dinosaurs of Albanian politics, SP and PD, despite the leaders they have had at different times.
A spark was given in the local elections of 1996, where the Municipality of Shkodra was won by a "United Right" group that at that time challenged the DP that was at the peak of power and the SP on the other side, that despite the developments of remained the main political force at the time.
But the idea of a political "third pole", despite the fact that it has been constantly circulating, has been used more as a pressure by the little ones to get as much space as possible in the coalitions with the big parties. This happened in 2001, it happened in 2005, while the greatest opportunity for the crystallization of this pole was in 2008, when, with the Constitutional changes, the "little ones" in that period could become a determining factor.
And due to the developments, a grouping of parties that included the LSI of that time, PDK, LZHK, PBDNJ, PAA, and many other entities, due to their opposition to the Constitutional amendments, could join together in 2009. - to not be under the "armpit" of Berisha, Rama or to go out alone in a system that did not favor them.
And for the sake of the truth, the only one who at that time managed to gain weight, which then translated into power, was Ilir Meta with LSI and the 4 mandates that they considered golden, but which then really turned into gold.
This was the first real possibility that a political pole could be created, perhaps not to dominate the political scene, but at least it would condition the absolute power of the Ones at the head of any party that could emerge victorious. At best we would have subjects at the minimum limits of parliamentary votes to govern, and probably never solid majorities.
And after many years, violence and political bargaining, we come to 2025, the electoral year when parliamentary elections will be held on May 11.
In the game we have at least 5 new entities that are led by Arlind Qori, Endri Shabani, Adriatik Lapaj, Enkelejd Alibeaj and Agron Shehaj. That would be enough for the 5 presidents to sit down and agree to form a third pole in politics, as the only way they can translate the votes they will receive into deputies' mandates.
Otherwise, what they say from morning to dinner, from screen to screen, from online application to another application, that they are against the old politics, political "monsters", etc., would be of no value.
Regardless of the desire they may have in these campaign months to take on a leading role, even through populism, on May 11 at the ballot boxes, or on May 12 and 13 when the election results come out, the leading role of 3-4 months will not be of value, if they fail to maximize the gray votes. These new parties can turn the gray electorate, which are not few, but range from 30-40%, into their vote barn, not including the votes of the diaspora, which can be another barn.
But these will have no value, if the votes that the 5 can get separately, are not translated into deputies' mandates. On the contrary, their votes that are not translated into mandates are put into the bag of the first party, which could be Rama or Berisha, and indirectly these young politicians become a crutch to strengthen the positions of the old ones who are fighting.
If even in 2025 they will not manage to shape a "3rd political pole", in 2029 they will hardly be remembered, or at best, they will be the same as those of 2001, who were waiting they lined up behind Berisha's or Nano's door at that time. / Pamphlet /
