She was received by the Minister of State for Relations with the Parliament, Elisa Spiropali at Mother Teresa airport.
The minister was also accompanied by Luigi Soreca, the charge d'affaires of the EU delegation in Albania.
"It was a special pleasure to welcome the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, today in Tirana, within the framework of the Berlin Process Summit. This summit is another important international event for Albania, which takes place for the first time outside the borders of the EU, with the participation of 6 prime ministers of the region, leaders of EU member states as well as high-level representatives and international organizations of over 25 countries", writes the minister.
Before Monday's summit, Von der Leyen will hold meetings with President Bajram Begaj and Prime Minister Edi Rama.
A press conference between Rama and Von der Leyen is expected around 17:30.
In advance, it is learned that at the center of the conversation will be the achievements of this process over the years and Albania's commitment to its success, as well as the process of Albania's membership in the EU.
For the first time, the summit of the Berlin Process will be held outside the borders of the European Union, and Tirana has been chosen to organize this important summit for the countries of the Western Balkans.
