The process of registering voters from abroad on the platform set up by the CEC has begun 8 days ago, while a large number of rejections of applications have been noted.
Specifically, out of 34,511 requests made as of this Sunday morning, only 13,273 have been approved, with 12,335 being reviewed, while 8,118 have been rejected.
This figure, which corresponds to 23.5% of applications to date, comes as a result of the two main problems encountered during the diaspora's application to register.
First, there is a discrepancy between the declared address and the address on the document uploaded to the platform. Another factor for this high number of application rejections is the lack of Albanian documents from immigrants.
It is worth noting that until March 4, any immigrant who has not yet been accepted into the voter registration procedure from abroad will be able to apply several times until their request is accepted.
If they do not register by March 4, any immigrant who wishes to vote in the May 11 elections will only be able to do so by coming to Albania.
So far, in these first 8 days, the countries from which the most immigrants have been registered are Italy, Greece, Germany and the USA. While the regions with the largest diaspora are Tirana, Fier, Durrës, Korça and Berat.
