The Democrats led by Sali Berisha have called a protest against what they consider a farce of the May 11 elections. Opposition supporters have gathered along 'Zogu I' Boulevard, a few hundred meters from where European leaders gathered in Tirana as part of the Political Committee.
Many of the gathered leaders left as soon as the first session of the Summit ended, while others continued with lunch at one of the restaurants near the SP headquarters.
Opposition supporters hold banners in English, denouncing what they consider to be election manipulation by Edi Rama.
The protest called for includes almost all of the political leaders of the Democratic Party in the regions, who simultaneously led the lists of candidates for deputies, as well as the leaders of this party, while the Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha is missing, who seems to be joining the protesters at the end of it, as he is on his way back from Brussels.
Belind Këlliçi, Flamur Noka, Luçano Boçi, Enno Bozdo, Edmond Haxhinasto, Agron Gjekmarkaj, Xhelal Mziu, Tedi Blushi, Erisa Xhixho, Gent Strazimiri are some of the democratic leaders who have gathered along the boulevard with their supporters. Also present are the candidates for MP in the Tirana District, who, although they did not receive a mandate as MP, have joined the call for protest.
