The President of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, in an interview from the prison where he is being held politically, responded to the accusations raised by SPAK, which he described as a lightning rod for Edi Rama. The President of the Freedom Party also revealed that he has hired lawyer Kujtim Cakrani as his legal defense attorney.

-Mr. Meta, you are now officially a defendant. What does this mean for you?
For me, only positive new procedural development and nothing else.
The accusations against me were officially and publicly formulated by the "Rilindja" Congress when I was President of the Republic.
You cannot be disappointed by Edi Rama's mercenaries because he is also a mercenary of others.
But for me, it is positive every day that we move towards the Court and the trial that cannot be closed, where we will publicly dismantle Edi Rama's treasonous plan from Tirana to Strasbourg.
-Meanwhile, in this new moment you have presented yourself with a new lawyer, Mr. Kujtim Cakrani. What does this mean to you?
As you know, we now have two major political cases heading towards trial, the "Berisha Case" and the "Meta Case".
Both with accusations formulated by the "Renaissance" Congress years ago.
I normally expected the "Berisha Case" to be closed because in my opinion it is not only political but also completely absurd.
But this could not happen because we live in a state captured in every cell.
As you know, Mr. Gjokutaj was Mr. Berisha's lawyer and now he has an even bigger job ahead of him that I am convinced he will handle successfully.
Now the "Meta Case" is heading towards trial and this requires a lot of work, which is why we have chosen lawyer Cakran to handle this trial process.
Being grateful for Attorney Gjokutaj's work so far, I believe that Attorney Cakrani will continue it with great dedication and transparency with the public.
Likewise, two major political issues, not only because of the extremely voluminous burden they carry physically, should not be publicly represented by the same lawyer because they have their own peculiarities.
