The official deadline expires, the closing of voting centers begins...

Albanian citizens headed to the polling stations today to elect new representatives to parliament. At 7:00 PM, the official hours ended and the closing of the polling stations began.

According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission, by 6:00 PM, national turnout was 41 percent, a significant decrease compared to the 2021 parliamentary elections, when around 43.8% of voters had voted at the same time.

The regions with the highest turnout are Dibra (48%), Tirana (46.5%) and Kukës (48%), while at the bottom of the list are Vlora (30%), Shkodra (36%) and Gjirokastra (37%). The drop in Vlora is also related to the development of the "Giro d'Italia" race, which has affected the movement of citizens and access to polling stations.

The campaign was characterized by a classic clash between the Socialist Party seeking a fourth mandate and the opposition, which lined up behind a “Trump-like” spirit, with the slogan “Make Albania Great Again” and the direct involvement of American strategists such as Chris LaCivita and Tony Fabrizio. However, according to the forecasting platform “Polymarket”, the Socialist Party holds an indisputable advantage with a 97% chance of winning.

The election process was generally peaceful, but there were also incidents. In Pogradec there was violence and intimidation. In Vora there was a clash between Flamur Noka and a SP militant. There were also accusations from the DP about pressure and the presence of "patronage" people near the polling stations.

It is now expected that the vote counting will begin immediately after the ballot boxes are closed, while the parties have begun preparing for the next phase - analysis and contestations, if any./ Pamphlet
