The United States of America seems to have changed its stance regarding Edi Rama's famous initiative to attack corruption.
Before presenting it to the public, Rama had lied to his partners and the American embassy came out with a strange reaction, declaring that it supported the initiative. Although everyone knew it was a maneuver to undo the new justice, only the US embassy did not understand. But after the debates and media attitudes, the Americans seem to have reflected. But on the other hand, they have made it clear that they will not allow justice reform to be affected. The committee's primary goal is to amend the reform laws, a majority of which requires 84 votes. But the American embassy has made it clear to Rama that this has no chance of happening.
" We emphasize the commitments undertaken within the measures approved in parliament for the irreversibility of the justice reform, commitments which recognize the pillars and constitutional principles that are the basis of the justice reform approved in 2016. This includes the independence and impartiality of justice institutions and self-governance of the justice system. These principles are key to the work of the special commission to advance good governance, the fight against corruption and the rule of law ," the American embassy emphasizes.
So in short, Rama's sandcastle is undone. Before the project came out, he sent a memo to internationals and tried to convince them that he is serious about the fight against corruption.
