Prime Minister Edi Rama led a campaign to shut down Tik Tok, a decision that has been opposed by the opposition, which considers it censorship.
An event that occurred in the center of Tirana, where a 14-year-old, a student at a 9-year-old school, was stabbed to death by a peer, was used as the start of a process to close the social network.
Within a few weeks, the Prime Minister said he had consulted with parents and teachers and announced the closure of Tik Tok. The government approved a decision, and companies that provide internet in Albania are obliged to technically implement it, thus closing the social network for 1 year.
But it seems that until the last moment, namely the one of disabling Tik Tok for 1 year, the candidates for MPs in the May 11 elections are using it to campaign. And ironically, on the closed network on Rama's orders, some of his candidates for MPs on May 11 are also campaigning.
A quick look at the network shows that Ervin Demo, the political leader of the Socialist Party in the Berat Region, has been distributing his messages to socialist militants in recent hours. He has given political messages, thus making the most of the space that this social network offers.

It seems that until the companies that provide internet services completely shut down the social network, Tik Tok will be used to its fullest to convey political messages, photos or videos, regardless of the political formation they belong to.
