The process for the registration of immigrants for the May 11 elections was accelerated today, while according to official data, on the first day, 2613 immigrants living in the Diaspora applied online to the CEC.
Until 17:30, 2613 people applied, of which 145 requests were accepted, while 59 were rejected and the rest are under review.
Applications are dominated by men with 76.6% and are mainly young. 60% of applicants are aged 25-45.
The Italian diaspora tops the list of applications on this first day, followed by Germany, England, Greece and America. They are voters mainly in the districts of Tirana, Durrës, Fier and Vlorë.
A staff of the CEC works in 3 shifts to respond to the requests, informing them about the successful passage or rejection.
Applications close on March 4, 2025. On May 11, Albanians will head to the ballot boxes.
