The reduction in MPs is one of the points on which the opposition leader, Sali Berisha, agrees with his rival.
Sali Berisha has left open a window of cooperation with Edi Rama to reduce the number of MPs.
The Prime Minister stated at the SP Assembly that the Assembly should have 101 deputies. But for this to happen, a constitutional amendment is needed. So, cooperation between the DP and the SP is needed.
Sali Berisha was on "Opinion" this evening where he was asked about this. Although he stated that this is not very important for the DP, he did not rule out the possibility of sitting down for negotiations. However, he said that there is a proposal to have a division of the Assembly into two chambers, more or less like the Italian model. According to him, this would automatically lead to a reduction in the number of deputies.
" The existence of two chambers is a positive development and would undoubtedly mean a reduction in the number of deputies. This was done by Lul Basha with 100. This is not a priority for us. There are many things ahead that need to be answered. Establishing two chambers with a reasonable number, not inflated because they are expenses for citizens. This speaks of removing so many deputies and at first glance it stands. But Rama has 40 advisors. This salary list of the Council of Ministers shows that there were 4 secretaries to a cabinet director and 39 advisors, assistants and analysts and an undeclared number of external advisors and these are paid as much as a chicken's beak. So, this has the concept of assistants and this has more assistance than Advisors. The creation of two chambers has been our project and the late Sabri Godo has always laid it out ", said Berisha.
Regarding the territorial reform, Berisha said: " I'm not saying we will or will not participate, but we have zero trust in Rama for the reforms ." So there too, he left open the possibility of negotiations. /Pamphlet
