Former Democratic Party MP Ervin Salianji spoke about the situation in the DP and the challenges of the opposition. He said that the DP should open its doors to young people and find mechanisms to unite all streams within the party.
According to him, the opposition is in a state of resistance against a regime, mentioning the imprisonment of key figures. Salianji stressed that he will continue his political activity and will take the issue of his conviction to the Strasbourg Court.
"The DP is doing everything to ensure that there are free and fair elections in the country, since there are no free elections in Albania. We must be more inspiring, many figures from the DP have stood out in the elections and are potential for the Democratic Party. The door must be opened to young people in the DP. Mechanisms must be found to bring together all generations, contributors, those who have different opinions in the party, to all come together against this regime.
"The DP is the most democratic party in Albania today. We must find the mechanisms to overthrow the regime. There is no choice and we must say that the opposition is in resistant conditions, since Berisha has been 'imprisoned', Meta is in a cell, I was imprisoned. As for my sentence, I will take it to the Strasbourg Court, and during this time, until the decision is made, I will be politically active," Salianji told "News 24".
