The US envoy has given an ultimatum to the police, KPK, KPA, courts, ILDKP and other inspectorates to help SPAK in the fight against corruption.
The United States of America has issued a strong message to public institutions in the country.
The person in charge, Nancy VanHorn, was today at SPAK where she discussed with Altin Dumani about the "surrounding" that is being done to the prosecution. The head of SPAK himself stated some time ago that many bodies are not cooperating with the prosecuting body, not making reports.
This concern was also raised by the US envoy, who gave an ultimatum to the police, KPK, KPA, courts, ILDKP and other inspectorates to help SPAK in the fight against corruption, supporting it with a lawsuit .
" Charge d'affaires, Nancy VanHorn, met again with SPAK's Chief Prosecutor, Altin Dumani, and praised SPAK's achievements in prosecuting corruption and organized crime at the highest levels. Ms. VanHorn and Mr. Dumani discussed how SPAK and BKH cannot do this work alone and must rely on institutions such as the police, courts, prosecutor's offices, vetting offices, inspectorates and councils that do their part independently, dedication and integrity. This is essential to protect the progress that Albania has made in the rule of law, a key element of the EU integration process ", the embassy announces.
The first to sound the alarm was Dumani himself, during the report he made to the Assembly a few months ago.
He concluded that public institutions have significantly reduced the number of criminal reports for corruption. Taxes, Customs, ILDKP, Money Laundering and audit groups in the ministry no longer make reports.
" We have a decrease in the number of referrals of public institutions by 40%, excluding the State Police, all other institutions have a decrease in reports. All institutions should cooperate more closely with us. We are very open to cooperate in the referral of criminal offences. There is room for deepening cooperation with other institutions ", declared Dumani in May.
According to the SPAK report, last year there were only 12 lawsuits from public institutions, this is an alarming figure. " It should be underlined that the cooperation of public institutions in the fight against corruption and organized crime is worrying. Based on the number of referrals of criminal offenses by public institutions, excluding the State Police, this number is quite low for the year 2023 with only 12 referred cases. Referrals from these institutions have a strong downward trend, which goes up to 40% compared to 2022 , says SPAK.
With the message that the US diplomat gave today, it seems that the Americans are sending messages that they are aware of the coup that is being done to SPAK and they do not intend to allow the delegitimization of the institution. / Pamphlet
