Agron Shehaj, leader of the 'Mundësia' Party, during an electoral meeting in Fier, accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of using the elections as a tool to protect his associates accused of corruption.
According to Shehaj, while justice is sending the corrupt to prison, Rama places them on lists to save them with the citizens' vote.
"The SP lists are full of former MPs and former ministers under investigation for corruption. Olta Xhaçka under investigation for corruption. Rama defended her so that her mandate would not be revoked. Now he is asking for your vote to defend her again in Parliament. Likewise with Plarent Ndreca and Ceno Klosi, who you have as candidates in Fier, both under investigation by SPAK," said Shehaj.
He emphasized that, unlike this practice of "corrupt lists", the candidates of the Opportunity Party have not had positions or privileges and come from honest work.
Shehaj also focused on Rama's statements against new parties, calling them an attempt to maintain control over the political system: "Edi Rama says 'we don't need third parties' because he is afraid of change. He wants to keep the old ones in the game, with a rotation of corruption."
According to him, the Mundësia Party is today the third in the national ranking, but it does not aim to be either a kingmaker or an ally of the old system. "This is just the beginning. We will be the first party. And when that day comes, Edi Rama will no longer have a place in politics," said Shehaj.
