The democratic deputy, Saimir Korreshi, commented on the tensions at the meeting of the Presidency that was held on June 6, where there was also verbal violence between the militants of Basha, the deputies of the group and the members of the Presidency. In a post on Facebook, he says that those who committed violence must be held responsible, while also mentioning the changes in the statute that were approved by the National Council on January 15, 2022.
Korreshi says that Basha's attitude is also right, who said that those militants should be expelled if they hold certain functions.
" On January 15, 2022, the PD National Council established a standard: violence due to a different opinion is classified as a serious offense that leads to expulsion from the party. Responding to Lulzim Basha's opinion expressed on Thursday, I think he is right. The standard must be maintained. The perpetrators of violence against MPs and journalists must be held accountable!" , declares Korreshi.
After a nearly 10-hour meeting amid tensions and fierce clashes, the leadership of the Democratic Party decided to open the race for the new president, which will be held on July 29, while the candidacies will be submitted until June 20.
