Trump's hard slap for Ed and Saliu!
Rama-Trump-Berisha

Rama and Berisha are not getting along with Donald Trump as they expected. So far, no change in US policy towards Albania...

Sali Berisha and Edi Rama have taken a hard hit from across the Atlantic. Although both opened the champagne after Trump's victory, it seems that things are not going as they expected. Not to mention that the troubles may increase, at least for Sali.

Focusing on Berisha, in the span of 3 days, he has received successive "slaps". The first came on Thursday, when it was announced that former ambassador Yuri Kim, not only has not been dismissed, but she will continue to be part of the State Department and has been appointed Senior Advisor.

The second blow came yesterday evening. The State Department published its annual narcotics report yesterday, which also mentioned Berisha. “ In September 2024, SPAK charged former Prime Minister and designated under the “Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, 2021” with 7031 (c) Sali Berisha with corruption, for official acts, for official acts in favor of his family’s interests. SPAK also charged his son-in-law with corruption and money laundering. SPAK seized real estate, bank accounts, and the son-in-law’s shares in companies linked to the corruption ,” the report states.

A few weeks ago, " Pamphlet " published the 2024 money laundering report and it said the same thing. People close to Berisha quickly came out saying that the report is from the Biden administration.

What about yesterday's report? This one may have been written during the Biden administration, but it came out 2 months after Trump was appointed and Rubio took over the State Department. It has been handed over to the current administration and bears its signature. More clearly, the State Department sent a message to Berisha that the crackdown on him is a success in the fight against corruption and that he should forget about removing "non grata".

Staying with the latter, we move on to the third “slap”. Secretary Rubio today announced that the “non gratas” will continue. He announced on his page on the X platform that he has punished the former president of Argentina and a former minister of this country. He has followed the provisions of Article 7031(c), which was used for Berisha. So in short, the chances of Berisha removing the stigma are slim.

Moving on to Edi Rama, the first message given by DASH is that they support SPAK and even demand more strikes. Although the prime minister attacked the prosecution and criticized the arrests, DASH says the opposite. They call on the prosecution to strike with all its might.

The second message was for the "Xhafaj" Commission. Edi Rama aims to intervene in the Reform laws with the new Parliament, always if he secures 84 votes in the Assembly. Some time ago, the US embassy made it clear that the Reform should not be affected, but with the arrival of Trump, movements began to hit the process. However, the State Department makes it clear: "Albania must fully implement the reforms of 2016 and 2017". So the justice reform should proceed without any influence.

The third blow has to do with corruption, trafficking, drugs, crime, money laundering. For the Americans they are still a problem and according to them crime has gained a lot of strength. There was also a message for the bets that Rama should withdraw from the plan to reopen them. It seems that the Americans have discovered the scenario to bring Olsi into play.

So, both Rama and Berisha thought that with the arrival of Trump, American policy in relation to Albania would change. With what we are seeing, such a thing is unlikely to happen. Support for SPAK is likely to return and also within the spring the new US ambassador may arrive, who will put politics on track. /Pamphlet
