Today, former Prime Minister Sali Berisha commented on the situation in the North of Kosovo in a statement to the media, where he said that the violence of Serbian protesters has injured 30 KFOR soldiers, the worst situation since the war in '99.
Berisha said that the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, was right as he demanded that the laws of his state's constitution be implemented.
Excerpts from the conversation:
Rama's position regarding the tension in the North?
The situation in the North of Kosovo, the bullets of the Serbian gangs in the vests of KFOR prove that the situation is more dramatic and critical than ever before since the war. It marks a predicted degradation of the situation, for those who are clear that Serbian nationalism in its essence has a greater Serbia as a project. Rama has been a slandered assistant of Vucic in these years, and has stabbed Kosovo in the back at every moment. Don't forget his words, when the war starts you will ask me to intercede with Vucic.
The US position on Kurti?
I have seen Kurt's attitude as that of a prime minister who seeks to implement the laws of his country. They are related to his right to establish order and security in the territory of Kosovo. No punishment, sanctions are read as encouragement by the nationalist Vučić and I am skeptical that they can positively affect peace in the region.
