The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, announced that the opposition protest, scheduled to take place today at 6:00 PM in front of the Prime Minister's Office, will escalate.
In a public statement, Berisha said that what he described as a "peaceful uprising" would escalate to the point of removing Prime Minister Edi Rama from office.
"There will be a revolt! Our peaceful uprising will know new dimensions. It is unstoppable until Rama leaves," he declared.
During his speech, Berisha also used harsh tones towards the head of government, comparing the length of his speeches to those of authoritarian leaders such as Muammar Gaddafi and Fidel Castro.
"In fact, if you bring it back, Albanians had before them an unburied political corpse. We will cross it. We will give it the place it deserves, " Berisha said.
Today's protest has been announced as part of the opposition action against the government, while it remains to be seen how the rally will take place and how large the turnout will be.
