On the agenda of the discussions is Ukraine and the security of Europe.
The 7th Summit of the European Political Community is taking place today in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, with leaders from across Europe taking part. The leaders of the 27 EU member states, as well as 22 other countries, will be present, including Prime Minister Edi Rama and the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani.
The EU will be represented by Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, who will co-chair the meeting with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
The discussion will focus on strengthening Ukraine, the security situation in Europe and ways to improve the stability and security of the continent in a challenging geopolitical context. After the plenary session, roundtable discussions will take place on traditional and hybrid threats, economic security and migration.
At 08:15, the arrival of the leaders is expected to begin, at 10:00 the opening of the plenary session, at 11:30 a family photo is planned, then round tables and bilateral meetings will be held. The closing session will be held at 15:00.
The summit comes a day after an informal European Council meeting, which also focused on the situation in Ukraine and European defense. After yesterday's discussions, the leaders attended a dinner hosted by King Frederik X and Queen Margrethe II at Amalienborg Palace.
This meeting of the European Political Community follows the sixth summit held on 16 May in Tirana, with the theme "New Europe in a New World: Unity – Cooperation – Joint Action".
