The deputy of the Democratic Party, Jorida Tabaku, has stated that the public procurement sector lacks transparency in terms of information and steps that are followed from the moment a tender is announced.
During her speech in the Assembly, Tabaku said that a direction should be created that can liberate this sector. According to the democratic deputy, there are endless cases where state officials distribute public procurements as if they have their own property and spoils.
"I have made several proposals to change the way the system works. I asked the institutions for all the information and steps that are followed from the moment when the tender for a certain public work is announced. Today these are not public.
I believe that the concentration of public procurement in a single institution will increase competition in this sector. Today they are a sector that distributes tenders. It can be considered the dependent director of the prime minister. I believe that these standards and the creation of a directorate centered on public procurement can liberate the sector. There are endless cases of public procurements where state officials distribute procurements as if they have their properties and spoils", declared Tabaku.
