The democratic deputy, Jorida Tabaku, spoke from the floor of the Assembly about the taxation of free professions at 15%, saying that it is unfair, damages the economy and fines working people.
She said that this tax damages these professions, which will lead to the closure of businesses and their departure from the country.
"I know that it is difficult to return attention to topics that are of interest to citizens, but I want to focus on a topic that has aroused a lot of interest in recent days, the tax on free professions. The Constitutional Court announced that on June 18, there will be a joint session to hear the lawsuit of the DP group, but also of the associations and organizations that have united against the unfair tax on free professions.
Parliament had the special honor on Monday, where it heard for the first or second time in parliament the Minister of Finance, speak about the economy. Those "kopuks", he said, the 29 thousand free professionals, get more turnover and profit than the banks, but when you confuse pears with apples and when you have pears and apples on your mind all day, of course you will do this calculation.
First, there are 29 thousand free professionals, who have a profit of 510 million euros, divided into 1,400 euros per month. How many banks does Albania have? How many shareholders? Are there shareholders who receive less than freelancers? Do you know that every year in Albania, a city the size of Gjirokastra leaves Albania? That is why the census data does not appear. The tax on freelancers is illegal. It will be an additional obstacle on the working people. There is no country without taxes. No one is asking not to pay taxes, but to be equal. They say that they will lower the tax next year, which is a tax year. This is the government, which works with electoral cycles", said Tabaku.
