The US Embassy in Tirana has issued a strong message to the parents today, this message a day before the arrival of the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.
According to the US, independent judges have a crucial role in the country and should vigorously fight corruption, organized crime and terrorism.
This message from the USA comes precisely at a time when former Prime Minister Sali Berisha continues to attack the judges with names from the window of the house where he is under arrest.
Sali Berisha, in his speeches from the window of the apartment on 'Mustafa Matohiti' street, has often thrown accusations at the Justice, stemming from the rejection of the Special Appeal which did not accept the request to change the security measure for him.
Therefore, regarding these attacks, the embassy continues to encourage the prosecutors to be steadfast and fight hard against corrupt officials.
Our embassy team recently hosted judges from the Special Courts of First Instance and Appeals Against Corruption and Organized Crime to highlight the key role of independent judges who serve with integrity in the fight against corruption, organized crime and terrorism. The United States is committed to its support for the judges of the Special Courts as they work to provide justice for all Albanian citizens within a transparent legal system.', the American Embassy announces.
Berisha has been under house arrest since December 30, 2023, as he is suspected of corruption in the case of the privatization of the former Partizani sports complex. For the first time, former Prime Minister Sali Berisha appeared at SPAK on January 23, where he answered the prosecutors on the Partizani file.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the US Department of State, Matthew Miller, disclosed details on the agenda of Secretary Blinken, who is expected to arrive tomorrow for an official visit to Tirana.
In a press conference, Miller announced that Blinken's visit to Albania reaffirms the strength of the United States' relationship with Albania. According to Miller, Albania is a key US partner for stability and progress in the Western Balkans.
The DASH spokesperson considered our country a strong voice in the defense of Ukraine's sovereignty and freedom against Russia's brutal aggression, as well as a principled leader during its mandate in the UN Security Council or even as the Chairman of the OSCE for the year 2020.
