He added that in the lobbying investigation, people who, according to the defense, have a key role were not questioned.
The preliminary hearing at the GJKKO for the files involving Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi ended with new requests from the defense. Attorney Kujtim Cakrani told the media that he has requested a stay of proceedings for the CEZ/DIA case.
According to him, there is no evidence implicating Meta in this matter. He added that in the investigation into lobbying, people who, according to the defense, have a key role have not been questioned. Cakrani mentioned Ardian Shatku, whose name appears repeatedly in the file, but who has not been summoned for questioning either in Albania or in the United States.
Regarding the allegations regarding the mining law, which includes Meta and Kryemadhi, the lawyer requested that the case be returned for further investigation. He requested that the MPs who voted for the law be questioned, as well as Prime Minister Edi Rama, who according to him has stated that the approval of the law would solve the problems of the miners.
"For CEZ, we have requested a recess in the case. There is no fact that Mr. Meta did it. No key people have been asked about the lobbying, Ardian Shatku is mentioned 130 times and has not been summoned either to the Prosecutor's Office or to the US.
We have requested the issue of the mining law where Meta and Kryemadhi are accused, we have requested that the issue be returned, and that the deputies and Mr. Rama who said that with the mining law there will be no more problems for miners be questioned. The evidence and acts that Meta is accused of must continue the investigation. The next session will be on the 5th at 10 am. There will be a decision within the 20th,” Cakrani told the media.
Cakrani emphasized that the investigation must continue on the evidence and acts on which the accusations are based. The next hearing will take place on the 5th at 10:00, while a decision from the court is expected within the 20th.
