Topalli "explodes" at Gogu in Parliament: Albania cannot integrate
Democratic Party MP, Jozefina Topalli

Democratic Party MP Jozefina Topalli delivered a speech in the Parliament where she accused the government of corruption, poverty and lack of European standards in Albania. During her speech, she addressed the Minister of Justice, Toni Gogu, calling him a “pastor”, while stating that the economic stability promoted by the majority does not reflect the reality faced by Albanian citizens.

Topalli emphasized that the Democratic Party has been the political force that, according to her, has oriented Albania towards the West, the European Union and NATO. She stated that European integration should not be treated as a political slogan, but as a process that requires a profound transformation of the state and society.

According to her, Europe represents standards of justice, freedom and equality before the law, while adding that corruption and money laundering are hindering the country's European path.

"Do you know why the pastor talks about capital and economic stabilization? Because poverty is quiet and makes no noise. And the pastor does this masterfully. I cannot help but say that the DP has been the main promoter of the country's integration into EU institutions. It was the DP that made the connection of fate with the West, with the EU and with NATO of this country. Integration into the EU is not a slogan, but a profound transformation of society and the state. No one can build a European democracy when the country is swimming in corruption. Money laundering is done with a wink from the government. Europe is never a democratic destination, but a standard of justice and freedom before the law. Our Albania today is experiencing a deep social and moral drama, Mr. Pastor. Most people live with insecurity. Extreme luxury and extreme poverty live parallel to each other," said Topalli.
