Democratic Party MP, Albana Vokshi, spoke today in the hall of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, where with tears in her eyes she publicly denounced that she and her daughter were threatened at the polling stations in Vora, during the May 11 elections.
In a speech delivered at the plenary session, Vokshi stated that the electoral process in Albania has been a farce, where, according to her, all international standards established by the Copenhagen document have been flagrantly violated.
The MP confessed that in the middle of the day, in Vora, she was threatened by people with criminal pasts, convicted of murder and drug trafficking, and that the same thing happened to her daughter.
" The truth is more alarming. Can there be democratic elections when the Copenhagen document criteria have been flagrantly violated?! I have been present at several election processes, but I have never seen a climate of terror like this. In Vora, I was threatened in broad daylight by criminals convicted of murder and drug trafficking. My colleagues also know this well. My daughter was also threatened in front of the polling station. Despite appealing to the police and denouncing SPAK, no one has reacted so far. These criminals are still free and I am scared and anxious until my daughter returns home. I ask you, are these elections free ," said Vokshi.
