Diaspora vote, Celibashi: 22 percent of ballots have been returned to the CEC

The voting process for Albanians living abroad continues, and as of today, 16:20, 193,823 envelopes have been received from voters who have registered to participate in the May 11 parliamentary elections.

According to figures made public by the chief commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi, “around 22% of the ballot envelopes sent to voters living outside the territory of Albania have already been returned to the Central Election Commission.” Translated into figures, according to CEC data, 55,761 envelopes have arrived at the CEC.

Voters in the diaspora have until the first week of May to complete and mail in their ballots. Any vote that arrives in Albania after 7:00 PM on May 11 will be considered invalid.

The designated place for the administration of this process is the “Feti Borova” Sports Palace, near the Tirana Olympic Park. The ballots are being prepared and sent there, and the counting of diaspora votes will also take place there.
