At today's meeting of the Presidency of the Socialist Party, the names of the candidates for the local by-elections in 6 municipalities in the country were made official.

Brunilda Mersini will be the SP candidate for the Municipality of Vlora.

She leaves her mandate as a member of Parliament and runs for the leadership of the municipality of Vlora.

With this decision, Edi Rama has surprised after there was talk that he would run against the current deputy mayor, Elis Halili. 

Mersin's mandate as a member of parliament lasted very little, 1 month.

In the Assembly, her seat is taken by Briseida Cakerri.

Today's meeting of the Socialist Party Presidency, which started at 6:00 PM, lasted only 20 minutes.

6 municipalities in the country will go to early elections on November 9.
