The EU Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, in a joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama on 'Europe Day', said that two of the main reforms, electoral and territorial, are in the attention of the European Union.
Gonzato stated that the electoral reform aims for Albania to fulfill the recommendations of the latest OSCE/ODIHR report.
"It is part of democratic standards. Democratic pluralism is important. Albania must have a local administration that benefits from its EU membership. All the programs that the EU has are related to local and regional governance," he said.
But how many chances does Albania have to conclude negotiations in 2027 and hope for integration in 2030?
Gonzato says that everything will depend on the progress of the reforms.
"Regarding the 2027 objective, I have always said that it is important to have a clear objective that keeps the parties focused. And this has shown its value in that there has been a full commitment of the EC and the member states to follow this process," Gonzato said.
