Dealing with criminal offenses goes beyond his power, but he is taking a seemingly new step towards cleaning the administration from party hiring. After 12 years in power, he seeks to avoid party nepotism with the hiring of their relatives, even though 5 years ago he stated that parties cannot investigate everyone who runs under the SP logo.
Five years later, Edi Rama has changed his approach, as he believes that his associates have abused their power to help their families. To cleanse the party of "sins", the leader of the majority has set up an "investigative" group with 4 new MPs with the idea that they may be less tainted in party employment. The chairwoman will be Lindita Nikolla.
Sources indicate that the ethics secretariat has begun work on compiling the self-declaration form, which will be required to be completed not only by MPs, but also by ministers, left-wing mayors and heads of institutions under central and local government. After completing it, leftists will have to submit it to the secretariat where their children, spouses, brothers-in-law, in-laws work, and it is even being considered to go as far as uncles.
This is plan A, but it seems that Edi Rama does not fully trust that his people will be honest on the form. This is where plan B comes in. According to sources, a popular "spying" will be activated, based on a denunciation mechanism by citizens.
Although the work will be done by the young, in the end the decision on the file will be made by the old. The forms, which are expected to be classified into safe, questionable and risky files, will be reviewed by the Ethics Secretariat and the SP leadership, headed by Edi Rama.

"Procedures" may have been violated, but by the end of 2026, Rama will have a picture of where the close associates of MPs, ministers, or mayors are working.
