
The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti together with the President Vjosa Osmani participated today in the tributes held in honor of the former President Ibrahim Rugova. Today marks 18 years since the death of the former president of Kosovo, Ibrahim Rugova.
Kurti said that former president Rugova is remembered today for his role and contribution to the internationalization of the Kosovo issue. He added that as an Albanian writer, Rugova understood the connection between political representation and popular culture, and this was very valuable for the peaceful resistance during the 90s, according to Kurti.
"Together with the president of the Republic of Kosovo and other colleagues from state institutions, we placed fresh flowers at the grave of President Ibrahim Rugova, who is also the first president of the Republic of Kosovo, when the Republic was a Republic for resistance to the occupation of Serbia in Kosovo, but also the first president of liberated Kosovo. Today, on the 18th anniversary of his death, we remember him for his role and contribution to the internationalization of the Kosovo issue and the nationalization of civil resistance. As an Albanian writer, the historical president Ibrahim Rugova understood, as rarely anyone else, the connection between political representation and popular culture, and this was very valuable for the peaceful resistance during the 90s" , said Kurti.
The historical leader of Kosovo passed away on January 21, 2006, where he was buried with high state and military honors.
